Appropriate candidates for Philips Academy exhibit the following characteristics:
Diagnosis of cognitive delay or developmental disability (low to low-average IQ)
No history of significant behavioral or psychological disorders
Basic verbal skills or ability to use alternate communication device or strategy independently
Ability to work within a small group and to transition between school and community activities
Motivated to work hard towards a goal of independence
Family network committed to working with the school

Tuition Information

Tuition to Philips Academy is $25,100 for Middle and High School students. State grants from $9,000-$24,000 are available for special needs students to help cover tuition.

The Post-Secondary Bridges program for young adults has a half day option starting at $11,000.

Payment plans, scholarships and discounts are available. Limited need-based financial aid is available. Eligibility is determined by the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Program. Financial aid applications are available online at onlinefactsmgt.com.

Open Houses

Students studying

Philips Academy offers open houses for prospective families in November, January, and March. These events allow you to drop-in to tour the campus, meet the teachers, and talk with current parents.

Admissions Open House Dates:

Thursday, November 7, 10:00-1:00. We will also be hosting a Parent Workshop at 9:00am.

Thursday, January 16, 10:00-1:00. We will also be hosting a Parent Workshop on the NC Grants with PEFNC at 9:00am.

Tuesday, March 18, 10:00-12:00. We will also be hosting a Parent Workshop at 9:00 am.
